Inspiration and composition

In Prospectu Animalis â€¯centers on an animal’s eye, reflecting the globe to symbolize the interconnection between animal and human perspectives. The multicoloured depiction of the animal highlights biodiversity and positions the animal as a representative for all species. Arndt placed the eye at the composition's centre to evoke both liveliness and vulnerability, inviting viewers to connect emotionally with the subject.

The artwork was created through a meticulous process of digital photo collaging, beginning with freely available photographs that were combined using tools such as PowerPoint, Photoshop, and open-source image processing software. Arndt embraced an iterative and exploratory approach, refining the composition to align with her vision. The result is a compelling visual narrative that bridges the scientific and emotional aspects of animal perception.

Connection to 'Mysteries in Science'

This piece delves into one of science’s enduring questions: how animals perceive the world and their relationship with humans. Arndt challenges the anthropocentric lens often used in understanding animals, advocating for a perspective that values both the differences and shared experiences between species.

Through In Prospectu Animalis, Arndt hopes to inspire viewers to reflect on their relationship with the natural world, fostering empathy and a sense of shared responsibility. By blending art and science, she highlights the importance of imagination and observation in understanding the complexities of life and the mysteries that connect all living beings.
