Inspiration and composition

Always emerges from Saraieva’s fascination with the concept of "creative synaesthesia"—the fusion and interplay between human emotion and AI’s analytical capabilities. In this video, she orchestrates a visual and auditory narrative that mirrors her dialogue with AI systems, including tools like ChatGPT. Abstract visuals, crafted with MidJourney and animated in Runway and Luma, unfold alongside AI-generated voiceovers generated by Elevenlabs and an emotive musical score created with Udio.

Both a technical experiment and philosophical exploration, Always illustrates how AI can extend and enhance human imagination rather than replace it. For Saraieva, this collaboration uncovers the enigmatic essence of creativity itself, a phenomenon science has yet to fully understand. By juxtaposing vibrant, shifting patterns with reflective narratives, Always invites viewers to reconsider the boundaries between human and machine artistry.

Connection to Mysteries in Science

Through Always, Saraieva delves into the shared mysteries of art and science, focusing on the evasive nature of creativity. The film symbolizes the shared curiosity that fuels both disciplines, uncovering uncharted territories of collaborative creation. By exploring how human intuition and AI precision can harmoniously coexist, she reframes fears of technological dominance into an optimistic vision of co-creation and discovery. Always dares viewers to step out of their comfort zones, sparking dialogue, stirring emotions, and challenging preconceived notions about the possible role of technology in human expression.

About Kseniia Saraieva

The Artist

Ukraine

Kseniia Saraieva is an artist and curator whose work explores the intersection of art, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI). A graduate of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography, she is based in the Netherlands, where she merges artistic expression with technological innovation to bridge the gap between human creativity and machine precision. Her recent works, including Always, explore the boundaries of generative AI as co-creative partner, challenging preconceptions about emotion and agency in AI-generated art. In this context, she is also one of the Canvas Nexus participants, an exhibition conceptualized by Utrecht University researcher Alejandro Lopez-Rincon.
